WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION
Making disciples by taking personal risks to bring the gospel to every relationship.
All of us have a network of relationships that are primed and ready to infuse the gospel. We believe that God has placed each of us precisely where we are to share the good news of Jesus with our family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers!
WHAT IS A DISCIPLE?
We believe a disciple of Jesus Christ understands these 5Gs.
GRACE
“Favor we didn’t deserve and could not earn.”
Jesus took our sin, our debts, our brokenness upon Himself through the cross and, now, through His grace, we have full life in Jesus. We can approach God with confidence knowing that Jesus’ death has freed us and made us alive with Christ.
Romans 5:8-9
But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God.
GATHER
“We’re better together”
You and I cannot become all that we are called to be on our own. We must be intentional to gather together.
Why We Gather
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
How We Gather
GROW
“Healthy things grow.”
God desires for us to grow spiritually, to be transformed. One of the significant ways we grow spiritually is through personal Bible study and prayer.
John 15:4-5
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Be intentional in spending time (“abiding”) in God’s Word by:
- Choosing a Time
- Choosing a Place
- Choosing a Plan
GIVE
“Generosity changes you and others.”
We have all been given Time, Talents, and Treasures that we are called to use for God and His Kingdom. The moment we surrendered to Jesus, the Holy Spirit entered our lives and brought along spiritual gifts that He has equipped us with supernaturally. God has called us to use those gifts to benefit other and to experience the joy of making a difference.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
GO
“You were created on purpose for a purpose.”
The church wasn’t created by Jesus to just be a building. He went out to the people, where they were, and modeled missional living. We must do the same. Some people will never step foot into a church unless we go out and model Christ to them.
Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Recognizing your CROSSROAD
A CROSSROAD is a focused area of life where you naturally spend a significant amount of time. Our hope is to see everyone engaging in their CROSSROAD(s) and leveraging opportunities to engage with those who need Christ. Find out more.
WHAT WE VALUE
The people of The Heights are marked by five values that guide our daily lives:
-
Biblical Truth
God’s Word gives us the vision of what life is supposed to look like. The Bible is the basis for every environment at The Heights. We teach and trust the Bible to tell us how to have a relationship with God through Christ and how to live a Christian life in faith.
-
Relationship Driven
It is our desire to see everyone grow in their walk with Christ. We believe one of the best ways to grow is through authentic relationships with others who are also pursuing Jesus. In small groups, we are able to care for one another and encourage each other to take Gospel risks.
-
Community Presence
We are not just a church that reflects our community, but we are present in our community as well. By serving locally, regionally, nationally, and globally, we take the Gospel into all the world through our existing relationships.
-
Contagious Generosity
Part of following Jesus is to become generous with one’s time, talents, and finances. When we follow this Christ-like example, we become part of God’s global mission of taking personal risks to bring the Gospel to every relationship.
-
Gospel Urgency
We live and breathe to equip our people to bring the Gospel into all relationships. We’re not as concerned about big weekend attendance numbers as we are about creating 2500 front yard missionaries in Richardson/Plano and surrounding areas!
